چکیده
This article explores the pervasive phenomenon of alienation within the postmodern landscape, arguing that traditional analyses often overlook a critical dimension: the spiritual. The postmodern condition, characterized by fragmentation, relativism, and the disintegration of metanarratives, has fostered a profound sense of meaninglessness and disconnectedness, contributing to a significant “spiritual alienation gap” – a chasm between the human desire for transcendent meaning and the perceived absence of accessible, credible sources of fulfillment. This gap manifests in various forms, including social isolation, existential angst, and a relentless pursuit of fleeting pleasures as substitutes for genuine purpose. Kierkegaard’s concept of hope is as an active and engaged stance, rather than a passive wish or optimistic expectation. Kierkegaardian hope, understood as a commitment to the possible born out of an acceptance of the inherent ambiguity of existence, provides a pathway beyond the debilitating effects of postmodern cynicism and nihilism. In conclusion, this article proposes that Kierkegaardian hope offers a valuable framework for addressing the spiritual alienation gap that pervades the postmodern era. By embracing the paradoxes inherent in faith and accepting the ambiguity of existence, individuals can cultivate a sense of meaning, purpose, and connection that transcends the limitations of the secular world and ultimately contributes to the repair of alienation rifts in both individual lives and within the broader social fabric.
